Yayasan Dwijendra didirikan pada tanggal 28 Januari 1953, dengan Ketua Yayasan yang pertama adalah Ida Bagus Wayan Gede. Selanjutnya diketuai oleh Wayan Reta, Drs. I Made Sura, Ir. Ida Bagus Wiyana, Made Sumitra Candra Jaya dan Dr. I Ketut Wirawan, M.Hum adalah ketua yang sekarang.
